Curate. It's that word that people don't want to hear, but need to. The challenge here is simple : are you showing work that communicates your value to the right people, in the right ways, at the right times? Are you leaving your best work on the editing floor or including too much? Are your processes for editing and post production stuck in the early 2000's? Are you actually getting any better or is every Uncle Joe snagging a camera at Cost Co catching up to you? Before you get all down on yourself consider this : maybe as a photographer you're best work just isn't being found hidden down deep amongst the most obvious stuff. Maybe just like your favorite band ever, it's the deep cuts that say the most about you as an artist.
Sitting on this episode with two absolute legends. James Broadbent founded Narrative to solve the problems that photographers all over the world are facing. From the headaches of blogging to managing the culling and cataloging process outside of Lightroom this is a dude with incredible vision and insight and right along side him we bring in Kyle Wilson, wedding photographer, artist, and Narrative team member to spit ball together the way curating work can elevate it's value. This chat is filled with so many nuggets of wisdom and perspective we should probably charge for it, but instead we're going to give it away for free and then ask you to do a few things with this info!

Photographers : how are you telling your stories? Are you letting Meta decide for you what images get seen and hoping for some quirky caption that adds value to your hard work or are you building a home for your stories to be told? There once was a time where every photographer had a blog and then the dark ages of social media took over. This conversation with Jared and Aga from Pic-Time about blogging explores not only some of their new blogging features but also the importance of finding ways to tell your stories. We share a few minutes from a long interview with Aga that was streamed live for members of the Photographic Collective community and then unpack it a little offering some tidbits for you guys to chew on.

From documentary photography on the other side of the world to high fives with President Obama, mountain biking adventures to working with the press Garrett has chased down the stories of humans all over the world. His eye for photography shaped early on influenced by a love for culture and an education from one of the world's most prestigious photography schools Garrett's story comes alive as he starts to talk about finding his place in the world.
We asked Garrett to be a part of this podcast because of just a sliver of his story. Leaving the Washington DC area to move closer to a place where his passion for mountain biking and the outdoors could be a more prominent part of his family's life but what we got out of him was more than Jared and I could possibly have expected. A story of intentionality, willingness to learn, humility, and so many amazing successes along the way. The simple fact is that Garrett Hubbard as a photographer, a film maker, a director, a father, and a husband is a man that we can all learn from as he so calmly describes his craft through the vein of it's value to sharing the stories of other people - to other people.
I walked away from this interview with a keen appreciation for the talent and the accomplishments of the people who quietly drive our industry forward always more focused on doing a good job than getting praise for it. Perhaps what strikes the hardest about this interview with Garrett is his willingness to give credit to the people from all over the country that have simply opened doors for him to walk through. Community is a critical element to success and Garrett Hubbard is absolutely willing to share his success with the people who have contributed to it. https://www.garretthubbard.com/

What comes next for photographers, videographers, and creatives? Community. It's the simple solution to almost every problem that arrises. How do you become more successful? Community. How can you refine technique? Community. How can you work on your craft, your creativity, avoid burn out, fight impostor syndrome, achieve a more consistent workflow, and enjoy your work more? Community. This episode is a live, completely unscripted and off the cuff conversation with the four members of the leadership team for the Photographic Collective. We're peeking behind the curtain on an all new platform that is being prepared for our community that will include modules for training, small and large group sub communities, and collaborations with world class educators. It is a big task trying to cast vision for something that can affect the industry as a whole and these are the voices of a few of the people who are looking to do just that.
If you're looking for a business coach, an accountability team, an editing workflow, a marketing strategy, or just a friend in the imaging industry we're discussing today something being built simply to serve you. This conversation with UK educator Tom Wright, US based film maker and director Brandon Buccheri, Architectural and portrait photographer, producer, and musician Jared Mark Fincher and Fujifilm Global Ambassador and wedding photographer Miles Witt Boyer is a candid, organic, raw approach to casing that vision.

Everybody has heard of GPresets. Like everybody. These Lightroom presets are stylistic and edgy and as if the signature packs aren't rad enough they've somebody partnered with a few of the coolest photographers in the world to match and sell their color science as well. This episode isn't about G though, at least not directly. It's about Greg. The guy behind GPresets. Greg is this brilliant musician turned photographer turned entrepreneur in Northern California who has spent the last several years simply helping photographers get more out of their images. This chat was really laid back and unplugged just getting to know Greg and talking through what the industry has been like through a different perspective over the last few years and though we didn't pack this thing with actionable tips on ways you can get better as photographer if you listen closely you'll soak up some really powerful knowledge from a guy who has conquered a lot of the wedding and photography world on his journey to the top.

Ben Hartley you guys. The most dynamic, most interesting, most energy packed educator in the photography space shows up in a real way in this episode. I asked Ben to have this chat with me to talk about how he has shifted his social media focus to a much more community minded approach over the last several years but what I got instead was, true to form, an intense purpose filled conversation with a brilliant mind that went much deeper. Ben is absolutely hilarious but his comedy only aids his perspective that when we show up as our best selves, when we are intentional about lifting up the communities and friends and people right around us, and when we act with integrity the results are always positive.
Whether you've found Ben because of the Six Figure Photography Podcast, or his Mastermind Group, or the Booked Solid workshop series, or Abundance, or heard him on a platform stage at WPPI, or this is your first experience diving into the mind of this amazing friend of mine let me tell you directly : Ben is one of the most authentically kind people I know. This conversation all centers around his perspectives on the "long game", showing up every day in an industry that you love with your best work, your best intentions, and your most positive outlook. You'll hear throughout this chat a general perspective that is pretty counter cultural to the wedding / portrait photography industry these days that says, more than likely you already have all that you need baked into you to succeed. Ben's vision as a coach is just to help you navigate through the garbage standing in your way and that perspective is as bold as it is beautiful.
Grab a coffee for this one, a notebook, and prepare to just be filled up with some goodness.

A very special 50th episode featuring special guest Joe Torres. Joe is a wedding photographer and videographer based in New York City who has taken a straight forward, simple approach to selling his services to couples all over the tri state area and has an impressive rate of conversions. His intentional approach to building relationships and establishing trust with clients before discussing cost allows him to convey himself more as an "assistant buyer" than the seller. Through that lens Joe walks us through a sales process as well as gives some great tactics and tidbits on how he has scaled a small photo and video company into a full time job in almost no time with an army of happy clients behind him.
Joe is a member of the Photographic Collective Community, a free to join creative group that exists simply to scale the value of the voices inside of it. This conversation is a perfect example of the kind of chat that happens weekly inside the community with the intent on building more legacy minded, service oriented creatives. If you're struggling with how to price your photography, building packages, understanding sales, client workflow, or simply want a refresher on how simple it can be to close the deal with your ideal client when you know how to communicate your value to them : this conversation is for you.

Photographer. Bike Mechanic. Real Estate Agent. Scuba Instructor? Aaron Anderson has lived ten lives not stumbling into photography until he had chased a few other rabbits in his life. The one thing that hit me the hardest in this episode though was his intentionality. Over the last three years Aaron and his wife Joy have sold almost everything they owned, including their home and moved into an RV with their 3 kids to simply invest in time and experiences together as a family. Initially I asked Aaron to be on the show because of his keen sense of light and his remarkably creative eye but what come to the surface in this chat with him was how important the elements of his life that inform that creativity are to him. Aaron is a commercial freelance photographer currently living in an RV park outside of the Dallas, Texas area - but that's just been for the last few weeks or so. Before that it was in LA, and who knows before that. His family's deep desire to pursue experiences together and share in those experiences has clearly permeated into his work.
As a commercial shooter Aaron's photography is at the top of the industry. With a refined eye for retouching and finished product and a rolodex of big name clients and olympic athletes along side a formal sponsorship by Fujifilm this this an artist who has earned a little bit of ego and yet you'll hear in this episode he has absolutely none. Quick to defer success to the teams of people around him. Quick to see his role on set as a person who has the opportunity to show respect and love and appreciation to everybody else who is helping him do his job well. Quick to get home in time to tuck his kids in bed. Aaron jumped in this one interview from one of my personal favorite photographers to a man, a dad, and a husband I really look up to.

She directed, shot, and edited a feature length documentary in 9 countries, in 9 languages all about coffee. If I don't have you hooked there I don't know what will. Today's guest is Brooke Bierhaus. She's done documentary film and photo work in 18 countries with an extreme and somehow gentle passion towards telling the stories of the humans in the places she travels. She's bold, assertive, strong, and somehow filled with so much grace and compassion for the world around her. This is a story filled with courage. From war torn countries to small mid western towns in the US Brooke's story is filled with nuggets of home and kindness and throughout the last year of getting to know her I will say that her passion for story comes only second to her love of relationship.
This is a special episode. Not only is Brooke a friend right here in my home town of Bentonville, Arkansas, she was also a client of mine on the other end of my camera at her wedding earlier this year. Getting to know her, drink coffee and eat the most delicious coffee cake at her home, hang out with her husband, and now offer a platform to help tell her story has been an absolute honor.

Tell better stories. That's a mantra every photographer and film maker should strive to repeat. The live a life filled with the curiosity of the human experience is a special thing and to be a full time story teller is a job title reserved for a pretty select few creatives. Today's episode is with my friend Varina Shaughnessy. Let me start by saying Varina is brilliant. Her ability to understand, to observe, to empathize has been shaped over a decade spent watching stories come to life. Whether as a film maker, an interviewer, or a wanderer Varina's own story has been filled with intentionality and opportunity. This chat with her is packed full of nuggets of wisdom she has picked up along the way as well as moments that have shaped her. From meeting her husband who was a journalist in Uganda, to being hired by one of the world most foremost imaging companies to help tell their brand story Varina has lived an amazing life that I can't wait to share.
You can connect with Varina via her INSTAGRAM page here or find her as a member over in the PHOTOGRAPHIC COLLECTIVE

Fer Juaristi is one of the most creative wedding photographers in the world today, and most humble. His work has permeated and affected the industry at a global level mixing wild cinematic movement and composition with quirky design and tons of energy. From his home in Monterey, Mexico to the corners of the world Fer's photographic journey has left him with a really unique and special perspective on his family, his priorities, and why this job matters so much. This sit down with Fer was all about maximizing our creative ceiling. Seeing things in new ways, pursuing personal growth over business success, and building a strong community of like minded friends are just a few of the topics that we covered on our way through Fer's story.
Fer says it best in this interview. For years the wedding photography industry has been consumed by people quick to niche themselves into a style or micro genre. Documentary shooters. The Looks Like Film people. The Fearless Photographers. Often what we end up seeing when these communities arise is a level of insecurity towards the way other people are doing things. Fer's perspective on pulling little ideas, concepts, creative tactics from as many sources as possible and allowing all art to permeate into his work may be the reason that his photography is so creatively compelling. It really is a great conversation with one of my very favorite shooters in the world today.

The beginning of a brand new series filled with voices of real people fighting through specific obstacles in their lives. Whether through mindset training, finding community, healthier habits, or simply the sheer will to persist we'll be diving deep in shorter episodes with these people to get to the core of what keeps them moving forward.
This episode is with wedding photographer Derek Couts though the conversation easily applies to all creatives and entrepreneurs. How can we as individuals pursue a career and a purpose with our lives that is larger than our fears, our insecurities, and our self doubts? More importantly how can we build healthy habits that bring like minded people along side us in the process?
Derek is a good friend of mine, an admin and member of the Photographic Collective, a free to join community built simply to inspire positivity and courage in creatives. He's a bit shy in this interview because the ask was for him to be pretty vulnerable but I'm certain that his humility and transparency will touch people in a very authentic way. Forty podcast episodes sitting and chatting with a few of the biggest names in the photography and mindset coaching world. Forty time clicking record with a notebook in front of me and a sincere goal of trying to uncover some little tidbit of truth that's worth listening to. Forty times that Jared has cleaned up the audio (You'll see I actually messed up my mic on this one) and helped to mix down this podcast with the goal of being one of the easiest to listen to options for entrepreneurs during their busy lives but this episode is different. David Kovacs is a good friend, a member of the Photographic Collective, and a brilliant photographer and business owner who challenged me to sit on the other end of the mic. So this is our interview, of me - Miles Witt Boyer. We chat through everything from PhotoExpo, the Bedford Camera convention in Little Rock, Arkansas that I just had the opportunity to keynote to new camera equipment that I'm excited about and then of course some of the lessons I've learned along the way doing this podcast for about a year now! Celebrating 4 seasons, 10k listeners, and friendship in this special episode.

I totally get the hype around GPresets! Greg's story is super inspiring, and his journey from musician to entrepreneur is amazing. It’s great to see how he’s been helping photographers push their creativity and improve their craft. Speaking of enhancing photos, I’ve been using https://reminiapkking.com/ lately.
